Seed Phrase FAQ
What does a seed phrase do?
The seed phrase is a secret password that is used to load the contents of your wallet and its assets. The owner of the seed phrase is the owner of the wallet. The phrase is generated once when you first set up and initialize your wallet, and is used to load or recover the contents of your wallet. Since Rumble Wallet is non-custodial (meaning only you control it, not Rumble or a bank), you’ll use the seed phrase as the key to ownership of its contents.
Which seed phrase storage method should I use?
At wallet setup, you can choose to store you seed phrase securely in the cloud. Keeping your seed phrase stored offline ensures that you have 100% complete control over it at all times. Storing in the cloud will never be as secure as not putting data in the cloud.
What’s the difference between the seed phrase and my Rumble password?
Your Rumble.com account password is used to connect your wallet to your Rumble account, allowing you to easily tip creators and receive assets directly from other Rumble users. Your secret seed phrase is only used to load your wallet on login to the app or to recover your wallet.
When do I need to provide the seed phrase?
You’ll provide your seed phrase at login to the wallet app, if you’re reinstalling the wallet on your device, or installing the wallet app on a new device.
