What does a secret phrase do?
The secret phrase (also called a "seed phrase") is a secret password that is used to load the contents of your wallet and its assets. The owner of the secret phrase is the owner of the wallet. The phrase is generated once when you first set up and initialize your wallet, and is used to load or recover the contents of your wallet. Since Rumble Wallet is non-custodial (meaning only you control it, not Rumble or a bank), you’ll use the secret phrase as the key to ownership of its contents.
Which secret phrase storage method should I use?
At wallet setup, you can choose to store you secret phrase securely in the cloud. Keeping your secret phrase stored offline ensures that you have 100% complete control over it at all times.
What’s the difference between the secret phrase and my Rumble password?
Your Rumble.com account password is used to connect your wallet to your Rumble account, allowing you to easily tip creators and receive assets directly from other Rumble users. Your secret phrase is only used to load your wallet on login to the app or to recover your wallet.
When do I need to provide the secret phrase?
You’ll provide your secret phrase at login to the wallet app, if you’re reinstalling the wallet on your device, or installing the wallet app on a new device.
How do I enter a secret phrase?
When prompted to enter your secret phrase into your wallet, type each word from the secret phrase into the provided fields (labeled 1 through 12). Enter the first secret phrase word in the first field (e.g. “dog”), then the second word (e.g. “tricycle”) in the second field, and so on. You'll be able to proceed once the secret phrase you enter exactly matches your stored copy.
