What's Coming in Rumble Wallet v2
We're working on the next major update to Rumble Wallet, and we want to give you an early look at what's on the way. Version 2 brings meaningful improvements to security, expanded network support, and quality-of-life changes, making your wallet safer, faster, and more flexible.
Reminder: manually back up your secret phrase
Your secret phrase is required to restore your wallet. Having an offline copy is a crucial step in securing your non-custodial wallet.
Even if you store your secret phrase securely in the cloud, remember to always manually back up your secret phrase.
- Go to Profile > Security > Reveal Secret Phrase.
- Write it down.
- Store it securely.
A stronger way to back up your secret phrase
Today, Rumble Wallet gives you the option to back up your secret phrase to the cloud during wallet setup. In v2, we're upgrading that process with a new architecture that significantly strengthens how your backup is protected.
Here's how it works.
- Your wallet app generates an encryption key.
- Your secret phrase is encrypted using the encryption key.
- The encrypted secret phrase is stored securely locally and on the Rumble Wallet backend.
- The encryption key is stored in either Apple or Google cloud.
- The Rumble Wallet backend stores only your encrypted seed phrase.
- Your device's cloud service stores only the key needed to decrypt it.
With this change, you’ll use either Apple iCloud or Android as your options for storing to cloud. On Android, the encryption key is stored in a protected, app-specific folder inside your Google Drive. This folder isn't visible in normal Drive browsing and is accessible only to the Rumble Wallet app. On iOS, the key is stored in your iCloud Keychain, protected by Apple's hardware-level security and tied to your Apple ID and device authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode).
This means you get the convenience of cloud recovery without any single service ever holding everything needed to access your wallet.
More networks, more choices
v2 expands the networks available for several assets, giving you more options for speed and cost when sending, receiving, buying, and selling.
Bitcoin: Lightning / Spark
Spark is coming to Rumble Wallet alongside Lightning. Spark works in conjunction with Lightning to enable near-instant Bitcoin transactions with no fees between Spark users. If you already use Lightning for fast, low-cost BTC transfers, Spark takes that even further.
Tether Global (USDT): Plasma
USDT is being added to Plasma, a Layer 2 scaling solution on Ethereum. Plasma processes transactions off the Ethereum main chain, which means faster and cheaper USDT transfers. It adds another option alongside Polygon, Arbitrum, and the other networks already supported.
Tether Gold (XAUT): Polygon, Arbitrum, and Plasma
Until now, XAUT has been available on Ethereum. In v2, we're adding three more networks:
- Polygon: Lower fees and faster confirmations than Ethereum mainnet
- Arbitrum: Fast and low-cost Layer 2 transfers
- Plasma: Another Layer 2 option for efficient transfers off the Ethereum main chain
This gives XAUT holders significantly more flexibility when moving gold-backed tokens.
Session security improvements
In v2, if the Rumble Wallet app has been in the background for an extended period, you'll see a screen prompting you to restart the app. This is by design and it ensures your wallet session doesn't stay open indefinitely when you aren't actively using it. If you see this screen, simply restart the app and authenticate as normal.
Stay tuned for the official release. When v2 is available, we'll update our guides and FAQs with full details on all of these changes.
